MicroRNAs are a class of endogenous non-coding RNAs that play a vital role in post-transcriptional gene regulation in eukaryotic cells. In plants and animals, miRNAs are implicated in diverse roles ranging from immunity against viral infections, developmental pathways, molecular pathology of cancer and regulation of protein expression.
