Objective: To investigate the mechanism of apoptosis induced by myeloid cell leukemia-1 (Mcl-1) inhibitor UMI-77 on gallbladder carcinoma GBC-SD cells. Methods: GBC-SD cells were treated with different concentrations of UMI-77. GBC-SD cell proliferation and apoptosis were detected by MTT assay and Annexin V/PI. The expressions of Mcl-1, Bcl-2, Bcl-xL, Bax, Bak, cleaved-caspase 9, cleaved-caspase 3 and cleaved-PARP proteins in GBC-SD cells treated with UMI-77 were detected by Western blotting…

A Novel Small-Molecule Inhibitor of Mcl-1 Blocks Pancreatic Cancer Growth In Vitro and In Vivo

In an in vivo BxPC-3 xenograft model, UMI-77 effectively inhibited tumor growth and induces apoptosis in pancreatic cancer cells in a time- and dose-dependent manner, accompanied by cytochrome c release and caspase-3 activation.

The expression of MCL-1 in prostate cancer tissues was much higher than that in normal prostate tissues, and knockdown of M CL- 1 in prostatecancer cells inhibits the proliferation and promotes apoptotsis of prostate cancer cells.

Anti-apoptotic BCL-2 family proteins in acute neural injury

It is discussed that several anti-apoptotic BCL-2 proteins influence mitochondrial bioenergetics and control neuronal Ca2+ homeostasis independent of their classical role in cell death signaling.

Gallbladder cancer: epidemiology and outcome

The development of potential diagnostic markers for disease will yield screening opportunities for those at risk either with ethnic susceptibility or known anatomic anomalies of the biliary tract, and clarification of the value of prophylactic cholecystectomy should provide an opportunity for secondary prevention.

Risk factors for gallbladder cancer: A case–control study

Fried foods, tobacco, chemical exposure, family history of gallstones, residence in Gangetic belt and secondary bile acids were significant risk factors for GBC.
