Pseudomonas aeruginosa contains two transcription regulators (LasR and RhlR) that, when complexed with their specific autoinducers (3-oxo-dodecanoyl-homoserine lactone and butanoyl-homoserine lactone, respectively) activate transcription of different virulence-associated traits.
