Some workers on Amazon Mechanical Turk (AMT) are dependent on income from AMT to pay for their basic needs. This could create two countervailing forces. Workers have incentives to work quickly, to maximize their income. However, if workers work too quickly, resulting in poor quality, they won't have access to the highest paying tasks on the platform.
