Gross chromosomal rearrangements (GCRs), including translocations, deletions, amplifications and aneuploidy are frequently observed in various types of human cancers. Despite their clear importance in carcinogenesis, the molecular mechanisms by which GCRs are generated and held in check are poorly understood.
