We have looked for bulk motions of galaxy clusters in the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) seven-year data. We isolate the kinetic Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) signal by filtering the WMAP Q-, V-, and W-band maps with multi-frequency matched filters that utilize the spatial properties of the kinetic SZ signal to optimize detection. We try two filters: a filter that has no spectral dependence, and a filter that utilizes the spectral properties of the kinetic and thermal SZ signals to remove… Expand
One Thousand and One Clusters: Measuring the Bulk Flow with the Planck ESZ and X-Ray-selected Galaxy Cluster Catalogs
We present our measurement of the 'bulk flow' using the kinetic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (kSZ) effect in the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) seven-year data. As the tracer of peculiarExpand
Probing the Dark Flow Signal in WMAP 9 -Year and Planck Cosmic Microwave Background Maps
The "dark flow" dipole is a statistically significant dipole found at the position of galaxy clusters in filtered maps of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature anisotropies. The dipoleExpand

Using Planck data combined with the Meta Catalogue of X-ray detected Clusters of galaxies (MCXC), we address the study of peculiar motions by searching for evidence of the kinetic Sunyaev-ZeldovichExpand
Matched filter optimization of kSZ measurements with a reconstructed cosmological flow field

Probing bulk flow with nearby SNe Ia data
We test the isotropy of the local Universe using low redshift supernova data from various catalogs and the non-parametric method of smoothed residuals. Using a recently developed catalog whichExpand
Anomalous anisotropic cross-correlations between WMAP CMB maps and SDSS galaxy distribution and implications on the dark flow scenario
We search for the dark flow induced diffuse kinetic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (kSZ) effect through CMB-galaxy cross-correlation. Such angular correlation is anisotropic, with a unique cos (θDF) angularExpand
Measuring the cosmological bulk flow using the peculiar velocities of supernovae
We study large-scale coherent motion in our universe using the existing Type IA supernovae data. If the recently observed bulk flow is real, then some imprint must be left on supernovae motion. WeExpand
Planck intermediate results: XXXVII. Evidence of unbound gas from the kinetic Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect
By looking at the kinetic Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect (kSZ) in Planck nominal mission data, we present a significant detection of b aryons participating in large-scale bulk flows around central galaxiesExpand
A measurement of the kinetic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich signal toward MACS J0717.5+3745
We report our analysis of MACS J0717.5+3745 using 140 and 268 GHz Bolocam data collected at the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory. We detect extended Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect signal at highExpand

Measuring Cosmological Bulk Flows via the Kinematic Sunyaev-Zeldovich Effect in the Upcoming Cosmic Microwave Background Maps.
TLDR
A new method for measuring the possible large-scale bulk flows in the universe from the cosmic microwave background (CMB) maps from the upcoming missions of the Microwave Anistropy Probe (MAP) and Planck is proposed and it is found that at the 95% confidence level, the bulk flows can be probed down to the amplitude of less than 200 km s(-1) with the MAP data and down to only approximately 30 km s-1 with the Planck mission.
