A measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry of pairs of oppositely charged leptons (dimuons and dielectrons) produced by the Drell–Yan process in proton-proton collisions is presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb − 1 collected with the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The asymmetry is measured as a function of lepton pair mass for masses larger than 170 GeV and compared with standard model predictions. An inclusive…

The large amount of data collected by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC provides unprece-dented opportunities to perform precision measurements of the standard model, which allow an accurate

Precise predictions of hard scattering processes at the LHC usually require the inclusion of NNLO corrections in QCD and NLO in EW. For some specific cases, this might not be sufficient to match the

Mixed QCD-Electroweak corrections to the Drell-Yan process in the high invariant mass region

We report on the calculation of mixed QCD-electroweak corrections to the neutral-current-mediated production of a pair of massless leptons in the high invariant mass region. We find these corrections

Parton distributions and new physics searches: the Drell–Yan forward–backward asymmetry as a case study

We discuss the sensitivity of theoretical predictions of observables used in searches for new physics to parton distributions (PDFs) at large momentum fraction x. Specifically, we consider the

On Drell-Yan production of scalar leptoquarks coupling to heavy-quark flavours

Given the hints of lepton-flavour non-universality in semi-leptonic B decays, leptoquark (LQ) models with sizeable couplings to heavy-quark flavours are enjoying a renaissance. While such models are
