The nucleosynthesis of heavy neutron-deficient nuclei in a stellar photon bath at the temperatures relevant for the astrophysical gamma process was investigated. In order to derive (gamma,n) cross sections and reaction rates, the stellar photon bath was simulated by the superposition of several bremsstrahlung spectra with different endpoint energies. As a first test for this method, the (gamma,n) reaction rates of the platinum isotopes 190Pt, 192Pt, and 198Pt were derived. The results are…
Investigation of photoneutron reactions on Os192 and Ir191,193 at energies of relevance for the astrophysical p process
We have investigated the photoneutron reactions on the isotopes {sup 192}Os and {sup 191,193}Ir for astrophysically relevant photon energies just above the neutron separation energy. The experiments
Photodissociation of neutron deficient nuclei
Abstract. The knowledge of the cross sections for photodissociation reactions like e.g. (γ, n) of neutron deficient nuclei is of crucial interest for network calculations predicting the abundances of
Study of the (p, γ) and (α, γ) reactions for 96,98,104Ru and 112,114,116Sn at astrophysically relevant energies
Cross section and S factor of the proton- and alpha-induced reactions have been studied for the Ruthenium and tin isotopes in the effective energy range, i.e. Gamow window. These reactions are
Nuclear astrophysics with real photons--the data acquisition system of the NEPTUN tagger setup
Photodissociation reactions play an important role in p-process nucleosynthesis. A precise knowledge of the energy dependence of a cross section is mandatory to determine the reaction rates for
Investigation of photoneutron reactions close to and above the neutron emission threshold in the rare earth region
We have investigated the photoneutron cross section of the isotopes {sup 148,150}Nd, {sup 154}Sm, and {sup 154,160}Gd close to the neutron emission threshold in photoactivation experiments at the
(n,γ) cross-sections of light p nuclei
Abstract. The nucleosynthesis of elements beyond iron is dominated by the s and r processes. However, a small amount of stable isotopes on the proton-rich side cannot be made by neutron capture and is

Thep-nuclei: abundances and origins
SummaryThe review discusses the solar system (meteoritic) abundances and the possible modes of nucleosynthesis of the 30-oddp-nuclei from74Se to196Hg. In addition to a discussion of the abundances
Reaction Rates for 146Sm Production in Supernovae
TLDR
The new cross section calculations result in only a modestly enhanced production ratio of 146Sm/144Sm, previously predicted at the lower limit of the allowed range 0.1-0.7.
