We measured the analyzing power A and the spin-spin correlation parameter A/sub n//sub n/ in medium-P/sub perpendicular//sup 2/ proton-proton elastic scattering, using a polarized-proton target and the 18.5-GeVc Brookhaven Alternating-Gradient Synchrotron polarized-proton beam. We found sharp dips in both A and A/sub n//sub n/, which occur at different P/sub perpendicular//sup 2/ values. The unexpected sharp structure in the spin-spin force occurs near P/sub perpendicular//sup 2/ = 2.3 (GeVc…
Measurement of Spin Effects in pp Elastic Scattering Using the Polarized Beam at the AGS
Using the recently developed 18.5 GeV/c AGS polarized proton beam and a polarized proton target we measured the analyzing power, A, and the spin-spin correlation parameter, Ann, in medium-P2 ⊥
Geometry of Proton-Proton Spin Effects at 12 to 28 GeV
The impact parameter representation is used to describe p-p elastic scattering spin effects. Central, spin-orbit, and spin-spin eikonals are written interns of form factors which are altributed to
Trimetric Plot of A for pp Elastic Scattering
The trimetric plot of an elastic pp polarization variable against laboratory momentum pL and squared transfer momentum p ⊥ 2 was first applied(1) to Ann, the two-transverse-spin parameter. The data
Measurement of Spin Parameters
So far there has been little experimental work with polarized beams of antiprotons. However, the polarization experiments done with protons might serve as a useful guide in polarized antiproton
Hard collisions of spinning protons: Past, present and future
Abstract. There will be a review of the history of polarized proton beams, and a discussion of the unexpected and still unexplained large transverse spin effects found in several high-energy
Neutron to proton mass difference, parton distribution functions and baryon resonances from a simple abstract model
We propose to consider quark degrees of freedom as projections of an interior dynamics of baryons. We assume a hamiltonian structure on the Lie group u(3) to describe the baryon spectrum. The ground
\text{High-P}^2_\bot spin dependent measurements
The reason for studying the violent collisions of protons is to obtain information about the inner structure of the proton. To study the inner structure of the proton and to see what its constituents
Developments and applications of polarized targets
Polarized targets have been used with increasing sophistication in a considerable number of experiments during the past two decades. In this paper methods to polarize nuclear targets are briefly
Few Body Physics at TRIUMF and KAON
We survey some of the interesting recent experimental and theoretical work in the few body field at TRIUMF. We discuss plans for KAON, a major extension of the TRIUMF accelerator, and describe some
