A sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for human non-pancreatic phospholipase A2 (PLA2) was developed using monoclonal antibodies raised against purified recombinant PLA2. This assay was shown to be specific for human non-pancreatic PLA2, showing no cross-reactivity with human pancreatic PLA2 or with snake venom PLA2 (Crotalus durissus).
