We report on the measurement of the spectral functions of noninteracting ultracold atoms in a three-dimensional disordered potential resulting from an optical speckle field. Varying the disorder strength by 2 orders of magnitude, we observe the crossover from the "quantum" perturbative regime of low disorder to the "classical" regime at higher disorder strength, and find an excellent agreement with numerical simulations. The method relies on the use of state-dependent disorder and the… Expand

Elastic Scattering Time of Matter Waves in Disordered Potentials.
The strong influence of the disorder statistics is revealed, especially on the relevance of the widely used Ioffe-Regel-like criterion kl_{s}∼1, while it is found to be relevant for Gaussian-distributed disordered potentials, and significant deviations for laser speckle disorders that are commonly used with ultracold atoms are observed. Spectral functions of one-dimensional systems with correlated disorder.
It is shown that the spectral function of Bloch states in a one-dimensional tight-binding non-interacting chain with two different models of static correlated disorder is not self-averaging for disordered potentials with an algebraic power-spectrum, and numerical calculations confirm this. Expand

Observation of the algebraic localization-delocalization transition in a one-dimensional disordered potential with a bias force

Selective state spectroscopy and multifractality in disordered Bose-Einstein condensates: a numerical study
A modified version of the excitation scheme introduced by Volchkov et al. is applied to address the critical state at the mobility edge of the Anderson localization transition, and the projected image of the cloud is shown to inherit multifractality and to display universal density correlations. Anderson Localization of Ultracold Atoms: Where is the Mobility Edge?
Using extensive numerical simulations, it is shown that the effect of anisotropy in the spatial correlations of realistic disorder configurations alone is not sufficient to explain the experimental data, and that the mobility edge obeys a universal scaling behavior, independently of the speckle geometry. Three-Dimensional Anderson Localization of Ultracold Matter
Three-dimensional Anderson localization of noninteracting ultracold matter is observed by allowing a spin-polarized atomic Fermi gas to expand into a disordered potential and a two-component density distribution emerges consisting of an expanding mobile component and a nondiffusing localized component.
