Emissions of atmospheric ammonia–nitrogen (NH3–N, where NH3–N 1⁄4 ( 17)NH3) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) were measured from a finishing swine confinement house at a commercial pig farm in eastern North Carolina. Continuous simultaneous NH3–N and H2S emissions were made for 1-week period during four different seasons. The number of pigs contained in the house varied from 850 to 900 with average weights ranging from 38 to 88 kg.
