Hypothalamic serotonin (5-HT) is involved in appetite regulation and sympathetic stimulation of thermogenesis. This study tested the hypothesis that the enhanced energetic efficiency of obese Zucker rats involves blunted serotonergic release within the medial hypothalamus (MH).
