An adaptation algorithm for determining the timedomain equalizer coefficients is described that maximizes the total channel capacity for all carriers of a multitone (discrete multitone) transmission. It takes into account the crosstalk noise environment and the interblock interference as a common disturbance. Furthermore, the leakage effect of the discrete Fourier transform (fast Fourier transform) is considered, too.
