INTRODUCTION Maxillary development is often inadequate in bilateral cleft patients. The use of presurgical orthopedics (PSO) and gingivoperiosteoplasty (GPP) may promote bone formation at the alveolar cleft, but can also have detrimental effects on maxillary development.
