Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are essential for proper extracellular matrix remodeling, a process that takes place during obesity-mediated adipose tissue formation. Here, we examine expression profiles and the potential role of MMPs and their tissue inhibitors (TIMPs) in adipose tissue remodeling during obesity.
