The mathematical modeling of a trickle-bed reactor at particle and catalytic bed levels for the hydrodesulfurization and hydrodemetallization of heavy crude oil was carried out. The kinetic model parameters were estimated from experimental data. Thermodynamic and transport properties were calculated based on existing correlations and equations of state. Simulations of isothermal small scale and large scale adiabatic reactor were carried out and concentration and temperature profiles were… Expand

The computational fluid dynamics codes play a paramount role by demonstrating the system dynamics. The solid dynamics in a multiphase reactor can be analysed from (Chaos, Fractures, ClusteringExpand
A novel fast evaluation method for mesoporous NiMo/Al2O3 hydrodemetallization (HDM) catalysts: activity and metal uptake capacity measurements
In this investigation, a test procedure is proposed to evaluate the activity and metal uptake capacity of hydrodemetallization (HDM) catalyst in a micro-reactor over a certain period of time insteadExpand

Three‐phase reactor model for hydrotreating in pilot trickle‐bed reactors
A three-phase reactor model for describing the hydrotreating reactions in a trickle-bed reactor was developed. It includes correlations for determining mass-transfer coefficients, solubility data,Expand
Evaluation of Kinetic and Hydrodynamic Models in the Hydroprocessing of a Trickle-Bed Reactor
In this paper, the influence of the hydrodynamic effects on the plug flow model deviation in the hydrodesulfuration (HDS) and hydrodemetalation (HDM) reactions of a petroleum residue is evaluated.Expand
Steady‐State and Dynamic Reactor Models for Hydrotreatment of Oil Fractions: A Review
The modeling of catalytic hydrotreatment reactors for petroleum fractions have been classified in several ways, for example steady‐state and dynamic, pseudohomogeneous, and heterogeneous, and so on.Expand
Kinetic model development and simulation of simultaneous hydrodenitrogenation and hydrodemetallization of crude oil in trickle bed reactor
One of the more difficult tasks in the petroleum refining industries that have not been considered largely in the literature is hydrotreating (HDT) of crude oil. The accurate calculations of kineticExpand
Modeling residue hydroprocessing in a multi-fixed-bed reactor system
Abstract A three-phase heterogeneous plug-flow reactor model was developed to describe the behavior of residue hydroprocessing in a multi-fixed-bed reactor system. The model considers gas–liquid andExpand
Deactivation of Heavy Oil Hydroprocessing Catalysts: Fundamentals and Modeling
Written by a scientist and researcher with more than 25 years of experience in the field, this serves as a complete guide to catalyst activity loss during the hydroprocessing of heavy oils. •Expand
Modeling of hydrotreating catalyst deactivation for heavy oil hydrocarbons
Abstract Hydrotreating is one of the most used process for eliminating impurities in heavy oil fractions, in which fixed-bed reactor has been used much more extensively. Nevertheless, the mainExpand
Improving fuel quality by whole crude oil hydrotreating: A kinetic model for hydrodeasphaltenization in a trickle bed reactor
Fossil fuel is still a predominant source of the global energy requirement. Hydrotreating of whole crude oil has the ability to increase the productivity of middle distillate fractions and improveExpand
Simulation of catalyst fouling at the particle and reactor levels
We present a method for the simulation of catalyst fouling at the particle and reactor levels. At the particle level, diffusion and reaction are described by a continuum model. The accessible poreExpand
