We comment on the role of the graviton mass in recent calculations of the Page curve using holographic ideas. All reliable calculations of the Page curve in more than 2+1 spacetime dimensions have been performed in systems with massive gravitons. A crucial ingredient in these calculations is the formation of islands, regions that contribute to the entropy of degrees of freedom located elsewhere. While most often simply ignored, it is indeed true that mass of the graviton does not appear to…
Critical islands
We discuss a doubly-holographic prescription for black holes in braneworlds with a vanishing cosmological constant. It involves calculating Ryu-Takayanagi surfaces in AdS black funnel spacetimes
Island in charged black holes
We study the information paradox for the eternal black hole with charges on a doubly-holographic model in general dimensions, where the charged black hole on a Planck brane is coupled to the baths on
Prepared for submission to JHEP Islands with Gravitating Baths
We study the Page curve and the island rule for black holes evaporating into gravitating baths, with an eye towards establishing a connection with the ER=EPR proposal. We consider several models of
Quantum extremal islands made easy. Part III. Complexity on the brane
We examine holographic complexity in the doubly holographic model introduced in [arXiv:2006.04851][arXiv:2010.00018] to study quantum extremal islands. We focus on the holographic complexity=volume
Islands in linear dilaton black holes
We derive a novel four-dimensional black hole with planar horizon that asymptotes to the linear dilaton background. The usual growth of its entanglement entropy before Page’s time is established.
Concerns about the replica wormhole derivation of the island conjecture
In a close look at the replica wormhole derivation of the island conjecture, we note a discrepancy in the derived matrix eigenvalues in the limit where the Hawking radiation entropy goes to zero. The
Quantum extremal islands made easy. Part II. Black holes on the brane
We discuss holographic models of extremal and non-extremal black holes in contact with a bath in d dimensions, based on a brane world model introduced in arXiv:2006.04851. The main benefit of our
Dirichlet baths and the not-so-fine-grained Page curve
We present a doubly holographic prescription for computing entanglement entropy on a gravitating brane. It involves a Ryu-Takayanagi surface with a Dirichlet anchoring condition. In braneworld
Global symmetry, Euclidean gravity, and the black hole information problem
In this paper we argue for a close connection between the non-existence of global symmetries in quantum gravity and a unitary resolution of the black hole information problem. In particular we show
Quantum extremal islands made easy. Part I. Entanglement on the brane
Recent progress in our understanding of the black hole information paradox has lead to a new prescription for calculating entanglement entropies, which involves special subsystems in regions where

Entanglement islands in higher dimensions
It has been suggested in recent work that the Page curve of Hawking radiation can be recovered using computations in semi-classical gravity provided one allows for "islands" in the gravity region of
Locally localized gravity
We study the fluctuation spectrum of linearized gravity around non-fine-tuned branes. We focus on the case of an AdS4 brane in AdS§. In this case, for small cosmological constant, the warp factor
Islands outside the horizon
We consider an AdS$_2$ black hole in equilibrium with a bath, which we take to have a dual description as (0+1)-dimensional quantum mechanical system coupled to a (1+1)-dimensional field theory
Replica wormholes and the entropy of Hawking radiation
The information paradox can be realized in anti-de Sitter spacetime joined to a Minkowski region. In this setting, we show that the large discrepancy between the von Neumann entropy as calculated by
Mass and gauge invariance: Holography for the Karch-Randall model
We argue that the Karch-Randall compactification is holographically dual to a 4D conformal field theory coupled to gravity on anti\char21{}de Sitter space. Using this interpretation we recover the
CFT/AdS correspondence, massive gravitons, and a connectivity index conjecture
We discuss the general question of which conformal field theories have dual descriptions in terms of quantum gravity theories on anti-de Sitter space. We analyze in detail the case of a deformed
On the existence and dynamics of braneworld black holes
Based on holographic arguments Tanaka and Emparan et al have claimed that large localized static black holes do not exist in the one-brane Randall-Sundrum model. If such black holes are
Higgs Phenomenon for 4-D Gravity in Anti de Sitter Space
We show that standard Einstein gravity coupled to a free conformal field theory (CFT) in anti-de Sitter space can undergo a Higgs phenomenon whereby the graviton acquires a nonzero mass (and three
The emergence of localized gravity
An Alternative to compactification
Conventional wisdom states that Newton's force law implies only four noncompact dimensions. We demonstrate that this is not necessarily true in the presence of a nonfactorizable background geometry.
