Massive ascites in systemic lupus erythematosus.

Abstract

We report a 59-year-old woman who developed massive, painless ascites attributed to systemic lupus erythematosus. Extensive investigations, including exploratory laparotomy, failed to demonstrate hepatic, renal, cardiac, infectious, or malignant disease.
