An analytical solution is presented for the movement of chemicals through a sorbing porous medium with lateral or intra-aggregate diffusion. The liquid phase in the porous medium is divided into mobile and immobile regions. Diffusional transfer between the two liquid regions is assumed to be proportional to the concentration difference between the mobile and immobile liquids. Sorption processes in both the dynamic and stagnant regions of the medium are assumed to be instantaneous and the…

Substance transfer in a porous medium saturated with mobile and immobile liquids

Consideration has been given to the problem of transfer of a substance in a porous medium consisting of two zones: a) with transit pores (with a mobile liquid) and b) with an immobile liquid (with

Solutal convection in horizontal porous layer with immobilization and clogging

The paper is devoted to the investigation of the solutal convection in a horizontal layer of porous media with horizontal seepage of the mixture and solute immobilization. The flow through porous

A generalized solution for solute flow in soils with mobile and immobile water

An analytical solution is presented for the movement of a solute through a porous medium which is leached at a constant rate. The solution takes into account transfer into an immobile water fraction.

Modelling the Competitive Sorption Process of Multiple Solutes During their Transport in Porous Media

A general mathematical model to solve the advection–dispersion transport equation for multiple solutes was developed, where the dual porosity mobile–immobile mass transfer, the two-site

An Effect of Sorption on Convective Modes Selection for Solutal Convection in a Rectangular Porous Channel

This paper is devoted to the stability analysis of 3D convective flow in the horizontal channel filled by the porous medium. Solute precipitation (solute sorption) by the porous medium is taken into

Transport of Cationic Solutes in Sorbing Porous Media

A model simulating transport of a cationic solute through soil under steady state water flux conditions is described, and model simulations are reported. Chemical interaction of each cation with the

Solute Transport with Non-Equilibrium Adsorption In A Non-Homogeneous Porous Medium

In this paper, a solute transport problem with non-equilibrium adsorption in a non-homogeneous porous medium consisting of two zones, one with high permeability (mobile zone) and another one with low
