Manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) is a superoxide anion scavenger located in mitochondria. Increased expression of MnSOD can diminish oxygen radical-mediated injuries and the cytotoxic effects of tumor necrosis factor alpha, ionizing radiation, and certain chemotherapeutic agents.
