Highlights • Cladosporium halotolerans removes 96 % of Mn2+ in two weeks by chelating mechanisms.• Hypocrea jecorina removes Mn2+ by oxidizing mechanisms with 56 % balance.• Laccases could be involved in Mn removal mechanisms played by C. halotolerans.
