Environmental over-stimulation is common in the first few months following severe brain injury. The reduced ability to attend coupled with increased impulsivity, confusion and disinhibition leaves the person with a brain injury in a bewildering world. By limiting stimulation and reducing the number of stimuli to which the person has to attend can help the person with a brain injury interact more effectively with his/her environment.
