A 57-year-old white man with hypertension, hypercholesterlemia, and a 12-year history of type 2 diabetes mellitus eturned for follow-up. He was found to have microalbuminria 4 years ago, presumed secondary to diabetes. He proressed to stage 2 chronic kidney disease (CKD) 2 years ago. e feels well except for 2 episodes of hypoglycemia in the last onth.
