© 2015 American Physical Society. We examine the physics of the early universe when Majorana neutrinos (νe, νμ, ντ) possess transition magnetic moments. These extra couplings beyond the usual weak interaction couplings alter the way neutrinos decouple from the plasma of electrons/positrons and photons. We calculate how transition magnetic moment couplings modify neutrino decoupling temperatures, and then use a full weak, strong, and electromagnetic reaction network to compute corresponding…

Neutrino energy transport in weak decoupling and big bang nucleosynthesis

In this study, we calculate the evolution of the early universe through the epochs of weak decoupling, weak freeze-out and big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) by simultaneously coupling a full strong,

Exploiting a future galactic supernova to probe neutrino magnetic moments

A core-collapse supernova (SN) offers an excellent astrophysical laboratory to test non-zero neutrino magnetic moments. In particular, the neutronization burst phase, which lasts for a few tens of

Muon g − 2 anomaly and neutrino magnetic moments

We show that a unified framework based on an SU(2)H horizontal symmetry which generates a naturally large neutrino transition magnetic moment and explains the XENON1T electron recoil excess also

Neutrino Magnetic Moments Meet Precision $N_{\rm eff}$ Measurements

: In the early universe, Dirac neutrino magnetic moments due to their chirality-flipping nature could lead to thermal production of right-handed neutrinos, which would make a significant contribution

Solar ¯ ν e flux: revisiting bounds on neutrino magnetic moments and solar magnetic field

: The interaction of neutrino transition magnetic dipole moments with magnetic fields can give rise to the phenomenon of neutrino spin-flavour precession (SFP). For Majorana neutrinos, the combined

Neutrino spin-flavour precession in magnetized white dwarf

Due to notoriously small value of the neutrino magnetic moment, the phenomena of neutrino spin flavour precession (SFP) requires very high magnetic field. This makes only a handful of systems suitable

Can neutron star discriminate between Dirac and Majorana neutrinos?

Any observable repercussion of electromagnetic properties of neutrinos will provide a per-spicuous signature of new physics. This includes the phenomenon of neutrino spin flip in the propinquity of an

Neutrinos in astrophysics and cosmology

Neutrinos play a crucial role in many aspects of astrophysics and cosmology. Since they control the electron fraction, or equivalently neutron-to-proton ratio, neutrino properties impact yields of

UHE neutrinos encountering decaying and non-decaying magnetic fields of compact stars

The phenomena of neutrino spin flavour precession in the presence of an extraneous magnetic field is a repercussion of neutrino magnetic moment which is consociated with the physics beyond the standard

Probing physics beyond the standard model: limits from BBN and the CMB independently and combined

We present new Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) limits on the cosmic expansion rate or relativistic energy density, quantified via the number Nν of equivalent neutrino species. We use the latest light
