Artificial airways are a common treatment modality in neonatal and pediatric critical care units. Maintaining the integrity of artificial airways in infants and children requires accurate assessment of endotracheal tube (ETT) position and patency, adequacy of oxygenation and ventilation, and the identification and treatment of potential complications.
