Abstract A magneto-orbital coupling mechanism is proposed to account for the weak energy gap at the Fermi energy in the ( π , 0 ) ordered SDW state of a realistic three-orbital model for iron pnictides involving d xz , d yz , and d xy Fe orbitals. The orbital mixing terms between the d xy and d xz / d yz orbitals, which are important in reproducing the orbital composition of the elliptical electron pockets at ( ± π , 0 ) and ( 0 , ± π ) , are shown to play a key role in the energy gap formation… Expand

Electronic structure, spin excitations, and orbital ordering in a three-orbital model for iron pnictides
A three-orbital itinerant-electron model involving dxz, dyz and dxy Fe 3d orbitals is proposed for iron pnictides towards understanding the () ordered magnetism and magnetic excitations in theseExpand
Tunneling spectroscopy for probing orbital anisotropy in iron pnictides
Using realistic multi-orbital tight-binding Hamiltonians and the T-matrix formalism, we explore the effects of a non-magnetic impurity on the local density of states in Fe-based compounds. We showExpand
Magnetism and charge dynamics in iron pnictides
For the iron pnictide superconductors, a first-principles calculation of the magnetic state shows that correlations are important if we are to understand both the paramagnetic and magnetic phases.Expand
Enhanced Orbital Degeneracy in Momentum Space for LaOFeAs
The Fermi surfaces (FS) of LaOFeAs (in $k_z$=0 plane) consist of two hole-type circles around $\Gamma$ point, which do not touch each other, and two electron-type co-centered ellipses around M point,Expand
Three orbital model for the iron-based superconductors
The theoretical need to study the properties of the Fe-based high-Tc superconductors using reliable manybody techniques has highlighted the importance of determining what is the minimum number ofExpand
Quantum oscillations in the parent pnictide BaFe 2 As 2 : Itinerant electrons in the reconstructed state
We report quantum-oscillation measurements that enable the direct observation of the Fermi surface of the low-temperature ground state of ${\text{BaFe}}_{2}{\text{As}}_{2}$. From these measurementsExpand
High-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy study of the electronic structure of EuFe2As2
We report the high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy studies of electronic structure of EuFe2As2. The paramagnetic state data are found to be consistent with density-functionalExpand
Itinerant Spin Excitations in SrFe2As2 Measured by Inelastic Neutron Scattering
We report inelastic neutron scattering measurements of the magnetic excitations in SrFe2As2, the parent of a family of iron-based superconductors. The data extend throughout the Brillouin zone and upExpand
Near-degeneracy of several pairing channels in multiorbital models for the Fe pnictides
Weak-coupling approaches to the pairing problem in the iron pnictide superconductors have predicted a wide variety of superconducting ground states. We argue here that this is due both to theExpand
The role of orbital order in the stabilization of the (π, 0) ordered magnetic state in a minimal two-band model for iron pnictides
Spin wave excitations and stability of the (π, 0) ordered magnetic state are investigated in a minimal two-band itinerant-electron model for iron pnictides. Presence of hopping anisotropy generates aExpand
