We present a combined theoretical and experimental study of magnetic resonance transitions induced by polarization-modulated light in cesium vapor exposed to a transverse magnetic field. Signals are obtained by phase-sensitive analysis of the light power traversing the vapor cell at six harmonics of the polarization modulation frequency. Resonances appear whenever the Larmor frequency matches an integer multiple of the modulation frequency. We have further investigated the modifications of the…

Magneto-optical spectroscopy with arbitrarily polarized intensity-modulated light in He4 atoms
We present both a theoretical and experimental study of the magneto-optical spectra induced with intensity-modulated resonant laser light that synchronously pumps and detects the metastable
Nonlinear Magneto-Optical Rotation Magnetometers
Nonlinear magneto-optical rotation (NMOR) is the nonlinear contribution to the overall magneto-optical rotation (Faraday) signal. It yields signals that are dependent on the light and magnetic-field
A high-sensitivity push-pull magnetometer
We describe our approach to atomic magnetometry based on the push-pull optical pumping technique. Cesium vapor is pumped and probed by a resonant laser beam whose circular polarization is modulated
Magnetic Resonance Based Atomic Magnetometers
The chapter gives a comprehensive account of the theory of atomic magnetometers deploying optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) in spin-polarized atomic ensembles, and of the practical
Orientational dependence of optically detected magnetic resonance signals in laser-driven atomic magnetometers
We have investigated the dependence of lock-in-demodulated $$M_x$$Mx-magnetometer signals on the orientation of the static magnetic field $$\mathbf {B}_{0}$$B0 of interest. Magnetic resonance spectra
Study of the optimal duty cycle and pumping rate for square-wave amplitude-modulated Bell–Bloom magnetometers*
We theoretically and experimentally study the optimal duty cycle and pumping rate for square-wave amplitude-modulated Bell–Bloom magnetometers. The theoretical and the experimental results are in
