We present a combined theoretical and experimental study of magnetic resonance transitions induced by polarization-modulated light in cesium vapor exposed to a transverse magnetic field. Signals are obtained by phase-sensitive analysis of the light power traversing the vapor cell at six harmonics of the polarization modulation frequency. Resonances appear whenever the Larmor frequency matches an integer multiple of the modulation frequency. We have further investigated the modifications of the…

We present both a theoretical and experimental study of the magneto-optical spectra induced with intensity-modulated resonant laser light that synchronously pumps and detects the metastable
Nonlinear Magneto-Optical Rotation Magnetometers
• Physics
• 2017
Nonlinear magneto-optical rotation (NMOR) is the nonlinear contribution to the overall magneto-optical rotation (Faraday) signal. It yields signals that are dependent on the light and magnetic-field
A high-sensitivity push-pull magnetometer
• Physics
• 2014
We describe our approach to atomic magnetometry based on the push-pull optical pumping technique. Cesium vapor is pumped and probed by a resonant laser beam whose circular polarization is modulated
Magnetic Resonance Based Atomic Magnetometers

The chapter gives a comprehensive account of the theory of atomic magnetometers deploying optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) in spin-polarized atomic ensembles, and of the practical
