We obtain a family of exact solutions describing magnetized black holes in an external gravitational field. Locally the solutions can be interpreted as representing the near-horizon region of a black hole, which interacts with a surrounding matter distribution producing a strong magnetic field. Thus, the solutions reflect the influence of both a gravitational and an electromagnetic external potential in the strong field regime. The static members in the family are generalizations of the…

Distorted black holes in an external magnetic field

Distorted black holes are local exact solutions describing the near-horizon region of a black hole, which interacts quasi-stationary with an external matter distribution. They can model astrophysical

Black hole in a superconducting plasma

The generalized vortical formalism provides an electrodynamic description for superconducting states---in the generalized vortical formalism, a superconducting state may be defined by the vanishing

On Beltrami states near black hole event horizon

In this article, we study Beltrami equilibria for plasmas in near the horizon of a spinning black hole, and develop a framework for constructing the magnetic field profile in the near horizon limit

Quasiperiodic oscillations from the accretion disk around distorted black holes

We study the quasi-periodic oscillations from the accretion disk around the distorted Schwarzschild black hole in the framework of the resonant models. We confine ourselves to the case of a

Scattering on Quasi-Spherical Black-Holes: Features and Beyond

Recent developments in the gravitational waves interferometry require more pertinent theoretical models of gravitational waves generation and propagation. Untouched possible mechanisms of spin-2

Multiple shadows from distorted static black holes

We study the local shadow of the Schwarzschild black hole with a quadrupole distortion and the influence of the external gravitational field on the photon dynamics. The external matter sources modify

Distorted black ring

We investigate how a static and neutral distribution of external matter distorts a five-dimensional static black ring. We obtain a general expression for the distorted metric in terms of the

Structure of the thin disk in the background of a distorted naked singularity versus a distorted static black hole

We consider the standard relativistic geometrically thin and optically thick accretion disc around a distorted static black hole and a distorted naked singularity. The distortion is the result of the

A Distorted Charged Dilaton Black Ring

We present the distorted five dimensional static black rings in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton (EMd) gravity by using the sigma model structure of the dimensionally reduced field equations. We investigate

Circular geodesics in the distorted spacetime of a deformed compact object

This paper describes the deformed compact object in the presence of an external distribution of matter via exercising quadrupole moments. The goal of this work is also to examine the impact of

Higher dimensional black holes in external magnetic fields

We apply a Harrison transformation to higher dimensional asymptotically flat black hole solutions, which puts them into an external magnetic field. First, we magnetize the Schwarzschild-Tangherlini

Magnetized Black Holes

Physical aspects of the theory of black holes in an external electromagnetic field are reviewed. The "magnetized" black hole model is currently widely discussed in astrophysics because it provides a

Myers-Perry Black Hole in an External Gravitational Field

We obtain a new exact solution of the 5D Einstein equations in vacuum describing a distorted Myers-Perry black hole with a single angular momentum. Locally, the solution is interpreted as a black

Thermodynamics of magnetized Kerr-Newman black holes

The thermodynamics of a magnetized Kerr-Newman black hole is studied to all orders in the appended magnetic field B. The asymptotic properties of the metric and other fields are dominated by the

Electromagnetic extraction of energy from Kerr black holes

When a rotating black hole is threaded by magnetic field lines supported by external currents flowing in an equatorial disc, an electric potential difference will be induced. If the field strength is

Mass of Kerr-Newman black holes in an external magnetic field

The explicit solution for a Kerr-Newman black hole immersed in an external magnetic field, sometimes called the Melvin-Kerr-Newman black hole, has been derived by Ernst and Wild in 1976. In this

Superconducting p-branes and extremal black holes

In Einstein-Maxwell theory, magnetic flux lines are ‘‘expelled’’ from a black hole as extremality is approached, in the sense that the component of the field strength normal to the horizon goes to

On black holes in magnetic universes

The magnetized black hole solutions discovered by Ernst are studied. It is shown that no static magnetic‐universe Kerr–Newman black holes exist if either a, the Kerr angular momentum parameter, or e,

Properties of the distorted Kerr black hole

We investigate the properties of the ergoregion and the location of the curvature singularities for the Kerr black hole distorted by the gravitational field of external sources. The particular cases

Magnetized black holes and black rings in the higher dimensional dilaton gravity

In this paper we consider magnetized black holes and black rings in the higher dimensional dilaton gravity. Our study is based on exact solutions generated by applying a Harrison transformation to
