Context. Classical T Tauri stars (CTTs) magnetically interact with their surrounding disks, a process that is thought to regulate their rotational evolution.Aims. We compute torques acting on the stellar surface of CTTs that arise from different accreting (accretion funnels) and ejecting (stellar winds and magnetospheric ejections) flow components. Furthermore, we compare the magnetic braking due to stellar winds in two different systems: isolated (i.e., weak-line T Tauri and main-sequence) and… Expand
Magnetic braking of accreting T Tauri stars: Effects of mass accretion rate, rotation, and dipolar field strength
The rotational evolution of accreting pre-main-sequence stars is influenced by its magnetic interaction with its surrounding circumstellar disk. Using the PLUTO code, we perform 2.5DExpand

Magnetocentrifugally Driven Flows from Young Stars and Disks. VI. Accretion with a Multipole Stellar Field
Previous analyses of magnetospheric accretion and outflow in classical T Tauri stars (CTTSs), within the context of both the X-wind model and other theoretical scenarios, have assumed a dipolarExpand
Magnetic Star-Disk Coupling in Classical T Tauri Systems
We study the interaction between a dipolar magnetic field rooted in the central star and the circumstellar accretion disk in a classical T Tauri system. The MHD equations, including radiative energyExpand
Accretion-powered Stellar Winds. II. Numerical Solutions for Stellar Wind Torques
In order to explain the slow rotation observed in a large fraction of accreting pre-main-sequence stars (CTTSs), we explore the role of stellar winds in torquing down the stars. For this mechanism toExpand
MHD simulations of accretion onto a dipolar magnetosphere - II. Magnetospheric ejections and stellar spin-down
Aims. This paper examines the outflows associated with the interaction of a stellar magnetosphere with an accretion disk. In particular, we investigate the magnetospheric ejections (MEs) due to theExpand
Which jet launching mechanism(s) in T Tauri stars
Aims. We examine whether ejection phenomena from accreting T Tauri stars can be described by only one type of self-collimated jet model. Methods. We present analytical kinematic predictions validExpand
Magnetocentrifugally driven flows from young stars and disks. 1: A generalized model
We propose a generalized model for stellar spin-down, disk accretion, and truncation, and the origin of winds, jets, and bipolar outflows from young stellar objects. We consider the steady stateExpand
TESTING MODELS OF ACCRETION-DRIVEN CORONAL HEATING AND STELLAR WIND ACCELERATION FOR T TAURI STARS
Classical T Tauri stars are pre-main-sequence objects that undergo simultaneous accretion, wind outflow, and coronal X-ray emission. The impact of plasma on the stellar surface from magnetosphericExpand
Magnetic braking of T Tauri stars
We construct models for the rotation rates of T Tauri stars whose spin is regulated by magnetic linkage between the star and a surrounding accretion disc. Our models utilise a time-dependent discExpand
Rotational evolution of solar-type protostars during the star-disk interaction phase
The early pre-main sequence phase during which they are still likely surrounded by an accretion disk represents a puzzling stage of the rotational evolution of solar-mass stars. While they are stillExpand
