We investigate magnetic solitons in an immiscible binary Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC), where the intraspecies interactions are slightly weaker than the interspecies interactions. While their density and phase profiles are analogous to dark-bright solitons, other characteristic properties such as velocities, widths, total density depletions, and in-trap oscillations are different. In the low velocity regime, a magnetic soliton reduces to a traveling pair of magnetic domain walls. Collisional…

Oscillating Solitons and AC Josephson Effect in Ferromagnetic Bose-Bose Mixtures

Close to the demixing transition, the degree of freedom associated to relative density fluctuations of a two-component Bose-Einstein condensate is described by a non-dissipative Landau-Lifshitz

Core structure of static ferrodark solitons in a spin-1 Bose-Einstein condensate

We develop an analytical description of static ferrodark solitons, the Z 2 topological defects in the magnetic order, in the easy-plane phase of ferromagnetic spin-1 Bose-Einstein condensates. We find

Solitons and soliton interactions in repulsive spinor Bose–Einstein condensates with nonzero background

We characterize the soliton solutions and their interactions for a system of coupled evolution equations of nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) type that models the dynamics in one-dimensional repulsive

Systematic vector solitary waves from their linear limits in one-dimensional n-component Bose-Einstein condensates.

The Bogoliubov-de Gennes spectral analysis shows that all of the states considered herein can be fully stabilized in suitable chemical potential intervals in the Thomas-Fermi regime.

Families of matter-waves in two-component Bose-Einstein condensates

Abstract. We produce several families of solutions for two-component nonlinear Schrödinger/Gross-Pitaevskii equations. These include domain walls and the first example of an antidark or gray soliton

Dynamics of highly unbalanced Bose-Bose mixtures: miscible vs. immiscible gases

We study the collective modes of the minority component of a highly unbalanced Bose-Bose mixture. In the miscible case the minority component feels an effective external potential and we derive an

Formation of a Matter-Wave Bright Soliton

The production of matter-wave solitons in an ultracold lithium-7 gas opens possibilities for future applications in coherent atom optics, atom interferometry, and atom transport.

Oscillations and interactions of dark and dark bright solitons in Bose Einstein condensates

Solitons are encountered in a wide range of nonlinear systems, from water channels to optical fibres. They have also been observed in Bose–Einstein condensates, but only now have such ‘ultracold

Numerical studies of superfluids and superconductors

In this thesis we demonstrate the power of the Gross-Pitaevskii and the time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau equations by numerically solving them for various fundamental problems related to superfluidity

Vortex structures in dilute quantum fluids

Vortex structures in dilute quantum fluids are studied using the time-independent Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The velocity and momentum of vortex rings with multiple circulation are determined and

Magnetic Domain-Wall Racetrack Memory

The racetrack memory described in this review comprises an array of magnetic nanowires arranged horizontally or vertically on a silicon chip and is an example of the move toward innately three-dimensional microelectronic devices.
