Abstract Two tetranuclear lanthanide(III) clusters, [Gd4(μ3-OH)2L6(dbm)4]·solvent, (1, Ln = GdIII, solvent = 2CH3CN·2CH2Cl2 and 2, Ln = DyIII, solvent = 6CH3CN; HL = 5-(4-o-hydroxybenzylidene)-8-hydroxylquinoline; dbm = 1,3-diphenyl-1,3-propanedione), were characterized in terms of structure and magnetism.
