The Heisenberg antiferromagnet, which arises from the large-{ital U} Hubbard model, is investigated on the C{sub 60} molecule and other fullerenes. The connectivity of C{sub 60} leads to an exotic classical ground state with nontrivial topology. We argue that there is no phase transition in the Hubbard model as a function of {ital U}/{ital t}, and thus the large-{ital U} solution is relevant for the physical case of intermediate coupling. The system undergoes a first-order metamagnetic phase…

Unconventional magnetic properties of the icosahedral symmetry antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model
The antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model on icosahedral symmetry Ih fullerene clusters exhibits unconventional magnetic properties despite the lack of anisotropic interactions. At the classical level,

We investigate the magnetocaloric properties of certain antiferromagnetic spin systems that have already been or very likely can be synthesized as magnetic molecules. It turns out that the special

The magnetic properties of C-60-TDAE and TTFxC60Bry may be described by the multi-band extended Hubbard model and the local configuration interaction method comparing the energy of the spin singlet

The importance of the connectivity of the icosahedron for the appearance of a magnetization discontinuity as a function of an external field which separates two families of lowest energy configurations is examined and the transition from the classical to the quantum limit is investigated.
