The Ho-Mg phase diagram was determined in the range 0 to 100 at.% Mg by differential thermal analysis (DIA), X-ray powder diffraction, optical and scanning electron microscopy, and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA). Four intermediate phases were found to exist, and their crystal structures were confirmed or determined as the following: (1) β phase, Ho2Mg, cubic,cI2, W type, peritectic formation 1170 °C; (2) HoMg, cubic,cP2, CsCl type, peritectic formation 845 °C; (3) HoMg2, hexagonal,hP12…
Experimental investigation of the Tb-Mg phase diagram
The Tb-Mg alloys were studied in the range 0 to 100 at.% Mg, by using X-ray powder diffraction, optical and scanning electron microscopy, electron probe microanalysis (EPMA), and differential thermal
The isothermal section at 500 °C of the Y-La-Mg ternary system
Ternary Y-La-Mg alloys have been studied by X-ray diffraction, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and electron probe microanalysis. Phase equilibria have been established in the
Mg–Ce Alloys. Experimental investigation by Smith thermal analysis
The magnesium-cerium system has been partially revised in the Ce-rich and Mg-rich regions by using results obtained with the Smith thermal analysis (STA) technique. Nine alloys were examined and,
Thermodynamic Analysis of Phase Equilibria in the Mg-Al-Ho Ternary System
A thermodynamic analysis of phase equilibria in the MgAlHo ternary system has been carried out with special emphasis on the metastable phase separation of the hexagonal close-packed (hcp) phase. In
Elastic and brittle properties of the B2-MgRE (RE = Sc, Y, Ce, Pr, Nd, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er) intermetallics
Abstract. The brittle and elastic properties of the B2-MgRE (RE = Sc, Y, Ce, Pr, Nd, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er) intermetallics have been investigated using first-principles density functional calculations.

The Nd-Mg system was studied using differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray examination, metallography, and microprobe analysis. The following intermetallic compounds were found to exist and their
Thermodynamics of formation of compounds in the Ce-Mg, Nd-Mg, Gd-Mg, Dy-Mg, Er-Mg, and Lu-Mg binary systems in the temperature range 650°to 930°K
The vapor pressures of magnesium over a series of two-phase alloys of Mg with Ce, Nd, Gd, Dy, Er, and Lu have been measured by the Knudsen effusion technique in the temperature range 650 to 930 K.
Magnetic properties of rare‐earth magnesium compounds of the type RMg2
The magnetic and crystallographic properties of rare earth compounds of the type RMg2 were studied. The compounds in which R represents La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm and Gd were found to be of the cubic Laves
