We present explicit U-duality invariants for the R, C, Q, O (real, complex, quaternionic, and octonionic) magic supergravities in four and five dimensions using complex forms with a reality condition. From these invariants we derive an explicit entropy function and corresponding stabilization equations which we use to exhibit stationary multicenter 1/2 Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield (BPS) solutions of these N=2 d=4 theories, starting with the octonionic one with E{sub 7(-25)} duality symmetry…

Attractors , Fixed Scalars and Magic Supergravities

We analyze the Hessian matrix of the black hole potential of N = 8, d = 4 supergravity, and determine its rank at non-BPS critical points, relating the resulting spectrum to non-BPS solutions (with

Magic N = 2 supergravities from hyper-free superstrings

We show by explicit construction the existence of various four dimensional models of type II superstrings with N = 2 supersymmetry, purely vector multiplet spectrum and no hypermultiplets. Among

N=2 Einstein-Yang-Mills's BPS solutions

We find the general form of all the supersymmetric configurations and solutions of N = 2,d = 4 Einstein-Yang-Mills theories. In the timelike case, which we study in great detail, giving many

Iwasawa N=8 attractors

Starting from the symplectic construction of the Lie algebra e7(7) due to Adams, we consider an Iwasawa parametrization of the coset E7(7)SU(8), which is the scalar manifold of N=8, d=4 supergravity.

1/8 BPS black hole composites

We show that the 1/8 BPS condition for composite stationary black holes can be rewritten as a first order system of differential equations associated to the nilpotent orbit in which lie the Noether

Ungauged and gauged Supergravity Black Holes: results on U-duality

Extremal black holes are states in the non-perturbative spectrum of Supergravity theories. They may be charged under abelian fields and in this case give rise to an effective potential for the

Attractors in black

We review recent results in the study of attractor horizon geometries (with non‐vanishing Bekenstein‐Hawking entropy) of dyonic extremal d = 4 black holes in supergravity. We focus on 𝒩 = 2, d = 4

Black Holes in Supergravity with Applications to String Theory

This thesis is devoted to the study of black hole solutions in ungauged four-dimensional extended Supergravity. We characterize the most general spherically symmetric and static black-hole solution

Stationary BPS Solutions in N=2 Supergravity with R^2-Interactions

We analyze a broad class of stationary solutions with residual N = 1 supersymmetry of four-dimensional N = 2 supergravity theories with terms quadratic in the Weyl tensor. These terms are encoded in

BPS black hole degeneracies and minimal automorphic representations

We discuss the degeneracies of 4D and 5D BPS black holes in toroidal compactifications of M-theory or type-II string theory, using U-duality as a tool. We generalize the 4D/5D lift to include all

N=8 attractors

We derive and solve the black hole attractor conditions of N = 8 supergravity by finding the critical points of the corresponding black hole potential. This is achieved by a simple generalization of

ORBITS OF EXCEPTIONAL GROUPS, DUALITY AND BPS STATES IN STRING THEORY

We give an invariant classification of orbits of the fundamental representations of the exceptional groups E7(7) and E6(6) which classify BPS states in string and M theories toroidally compactified

Freezing of moduli by N=2 dyons.

In N=2 ungauged supergravity we have found the most general double-extreme dyonic black holes with arbitrary number n{sub v} of constant vector multiplets and n{sub h} of constant hypermultiplets.
