Poly(1-(2-methacryloyloxy)ethyl-3-butylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide) (PMIS) and poly(n-hexyl methacrylate) (PHMA) brushes were prepared on initiator-immobilized silicon wafers by surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization.
