Lipoarabinomannan (LAM) is a major cell-wall associated glycolipid produced by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium leprae. Previous work demonstrated that LAM from avirulent (H37Ra) and virulent (Erdman) strains of M. tuberculosis differ in structure at their non-reducing termini.
