Non-conventional carbon sources, such as macroalgae, are sustainable alternatives for large-scale production of biopolymers. The present study examined macroalgae-derived carbohydrates, as carbon sources for the production of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) by Haloferax mediterranei.
