As a proof-of-principle study, a multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) assay was developed for quantitation of proteotypic peptides, representing seven plasma proteins associated with inflammation (complement components and C-reactive protein). The assay development and the sample analysis were performed on a linear ion trap mass spectrometer.
