Unsaturated aliphatic isobutylamides from Asteraceae, Rutaceae and Piperaceae are potential agents to control schistosomiasis. Affinin (N-isobutyl-2,6,8_decatrienamide) from Heliopsis longipes has strong molluscicidal activity against Physa occidentalis (LD5e ca 100 PM) and the cercariae of the fluke. The amide has also been shown to be present in Wedelia parviceps flowers.
New alkylamide from the stems of Zanthoxylum nitidum
TLDR
The isolated compounds exhibited slightly antioxidant activities through DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging assays but showed no antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans ATCC2517, a dental caries causing bacteria. Expand
Antimutagenic properties of affinin isolated from Heliopsis longipes extract
TLDR
Assessment of the potential utilization of the natural product affinin isolated from H. longipes ethanol extract found it to be not mutagenic and possesses antimutagenic activity, which could be important to treat some pain symptoms related to antiradical activity. Expand

Affinin (Spilanthol), Isolated from Heliopsis longipes, Induces Vasodilation via Activation of Gasotransmitters and Prostacyclin Signaling Pathways
TLDR
It is demonstrated, for the first time, that affinin induces vasodilation by mechanisms that involve gasotransmitters, and prostacyclin signaling pathways. Expand

Alkamides: a critical reconsideration of a multifunctional class of unsaturated fatty acid amides
Alkamides are natural products formed by connecting straight-chain, mostly unsaturated, aliphatic acids with various amines by an amide linkage. More than 300 derivatives are known from eight plantExpand
