The magnetohydrodynamic behavior of an electrically conducting fluid in a constant dipole magnetic field is investigated in terms of generalized Alfven waves by means of vorticity and current density. The resulting equations are complicated, and solutions are discussed for large distances from the center of the dipole. The geometry of lines of force is discussed briefly.
