The energy spectrum of neutrino-induced upward-going muons in MACRO has been analysed in terms of relativity principles violating effects, keeping standard mass-induced atmospheric neutrino oscillations as the dominant source of ν μ → ν τ transitions. The data disfavor these exotic possibilities even at a sub-dominant level, and stringent 90% C.L. limits are placed on the Lorentz invariance violation parameter | Δ v | 6 × 10 −24 at sin 2 θ v = 0 and | Δ v | 2.5 ÷ 5 × 10 −26 at sin 2 θ v = ± 1… Expand

CPT invariance and neutrino physics
CPT invariance in neutrino physics has attracted attention after the revival of the hypothetical idea that neutrino and antineutrino might have nonequal masses ($m_{\bar\nu} \neq m_{\nu}$) whenExpand

Tau neutrinos favored over sterile neutrinos in atmospheric muon neutrino oscillations.
Using data recorded in 1100 live days of the Super-Kamiokande detector, three complementary data samples are used to study the difference in zenith angle distribution due to neutral currents and matter effects and find no evidence favoring sterile neutrinos, and reject the hypothesis at the 99% confidence level. Atmospheric neutrino oscillations from upward throughgoing muon multiple scattering in MACRO

The laboratory limits on the neutrino oscillation process can be interpreted as tests of the equivalence principle in the quantum-relativistic regime, and put severe constraints on a maximal violation of this Principle in the case of massless neutrinos coupled to the Earth's gravitational field.
