Mossbauer spectroscopy and magnetic measurements were used for an analysis of nanocrystalline iron oxides (hematite α‐Fe2O3, magnetite Fe3O4), Hagg carbide (Fe5C2), and α‐Fe prepared by thermal treatment of synthetic ferrihydrite in various atmospheres. The transformation of ferrihydrite precursor was monitored by the measurements of temperature dependence of magnetic moment (thermomagnetic curves).
