Results of an experimental and theoretical modelling investigation on the low-temperature oxidation of fresh, wet, low-rank coals are reported. The rates of oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide formation were measured for Wyoming subbituminous coal, using an isothermal fixed-bed flow reactor.
