We present effective gravitational equations at low energies in a Z{sub 2}-symmetric braneworld with the Gauss-Bonnet term. Our derivation is based on the geometrical projection approach, and we solve iteratively the bulk geometry using the gradient expansion scheme. Although the original field equations are quite complicated due to the presence of the Gauss-Bonnet term, our final result clearly has the form of the Einstein equations plus correction terms, which is simple enough to handle. As…

Spherically symmetric brane in a bulk of f(R) and Gauss–Bonnet gravity

Effective gravitational field equations on a four-dimensional brane embedded in a five-dimensional bulk have been considered. Using the Einstein–Hilbert action along with the Gauss–Bonnet correction

Kaluza-Klein brane cosmology with a bulk scalar field

The brane-world cosmological model in higher-dimensional spacetime with a bulk scalar field is investigated. We derive the $(4+n)$-dimensional gravitational field equations for the scalar field on

Scalar cosmological perturbations in the Gauss–Bonnet braneworld

We study scalar cosmological perturbations in a braneworld model with a bulk Gauss–Bonnet term. For an anti-de Sitter bulk, the five-dimensional perturbation equations share the same form as in the

Kaluza-Klein two brane worlds cosmology at low energy

We study two (4+n)-dimensional branes embedded in (5+n)-dimensional spacetime. Using the gradient expansion approximation, we find that the effective theory is described by (4+n)-dimensional

Low energy effective theory on a regularized brane in 6D gauged chiral supergravity

We derive the low energy effective theory on a brane in six-dimensional chiral supergravity. The conical 3-brane singularities are resolved by introducing cylindrical 4-branes of co-dimension 1 whose

Braneworld dynamics in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity

We discuss the cosmological evolution of a braneworld in five-dimensional Gauss-Bonnet gravity. Our discussion allows the fifth (bulk) dimension to be spacelike as well as timelike. The resulting

Gauss-Bonnet Braneworld Redux: A Novel Scenario for the Bouncing Universe

We propose a new scenario for the bouncing universe in a simple five-dimensional braneworld model in the framework of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity, which works even with ordinary matter on the

Signatures of Einstein-Maxwell dilaton-axion gravity from the observed jet power and the radiative efficiency

The Einstein-Maxwell dilaton-axion gravity arises in the low energy effective action of the heterotic string theory and provides a simple framework to explore the signatures of the same. The dilaton

On the four-dimensional effective theories in brane-worlds

Models with extra dimensions have attracted much interest recently because they may provide the solution for long standing problems in physics. One interesting and very attractive idea is that our

2 Static spherically symmetric black hole solutions in a

The presence of axionic field can provide plausible explanation to several long standing problems in physics such as dark matter and dark energy. The pseudo-scalar axion whose derivative corresponds

Linearized gravity on the de Sitter brane in the Einstein Gauss-Bonnet theory

We investigate linearized gravity on a single de Sitter brane in the anti-de Sitter (AdS) bulk in the Einstein Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) theory. We find that Einstein gravity is recovered for a high energy

A Vaidya-type radiating solution in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity and its application to braneworld

We consider a Vaidya-type radiating spacetime in Einstein gravity with the Gauss-Bonnet combination of quadratic curvature terms. Simply generalizing the known static black hole solutions in

General Gauss-Bonnet brane cosmology

We consider five-dimensional spacetimes of constant three-dimensional spatial curvature in the presence of a bulk cosmological constant. We find the general solution of such a configuration in the

Braneworld Cosmology in (Anti)--de Sitter Einstein--Gauss--Bonnet--Maxwell Gravity

Braneworld cosmology for a domain wall embedded in the charged (Anti)-de Sitter-Schwarzschildblack hole of the five--dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet-Maxwell theory is considered. The effective

String inspired brane world cosmology.

It is shown that variation in the bulk geometry is produced by bulk curvature terms parametrized by the mass of a black hole, and there is a coupling between these curvature Terms and matter that can be relevant for early universe cosmology.

The Einstein Equations on the 3-BRANE World:. a Window to Extra Dimensions

We carefully investigate the gravitational equations of the brane world, in which all the matter forces except gravity are confined on the 3-brane in a 5-dimensional spacetime with $Z_2$ symmetry. We

Holography in Einstein Gauss-Bonnet Gravity

We investigate a holographic relation between Einstein Gauss-Bonnet gravity in n dimensions and its dual field theory in (n 1) dimensions. We briefly review the AdS/CFT correspondence for the
