This study tests the hypothesis that peroxisome proliferator activated receptor-gamma coactivator 1alpha (PGC-1alpha) and the integrity of gap junctions (GJs) were suppressed and the number of apoptotic bodies was increased in remote viable areas of left ventricle following acute myocardial infarction (AMI), which can be reversed by losartan therapy.
