This article assesses how the British multinational company Lonrho, led by its buccaneering managing-director, Roland ‘Tiny’ Rowland, attempted to navigate oil sanctions against Rhodesia after the British colony had made its Unilateral Declaration of Independence (UDI) in November 1965.
