  • A bacterial strain, designated WDS2C18T, was isolated from a marine solar saltern from the coast of Weihai, Shandong Province, China. Cells of strain WDS2C18T were long rod-shaped, red, and approximately 6.0-12.0 µm in length and 0.3-0.4 µm in width. The strain was Gram-stain-negative, facultatively anaerobic, heterotrophic, catalase-positive and oxidase-negative. Optimal growth was observed at 40 °C, at pH 7.5-8.0 with 8-12 % (w/v) NaCl.
