Between December 1979 and June 1983 the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) treated 893 good-performance status patients with metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) on one of seven phase III combination chemotherapies. The overall median survival was 23.5 weeks with no significant differences between treatments.
