Methylglyoxal (MGO), a metabolite of glucose accumulates in vascular tissues of hypertensive rats. We recently showed that short-term (30min) treatment with MGO inhibits noradrenaline (NA)-induced smooth muscle contraction in rat aorta and mesenteric artery.
